The room was large, comfortable and very clean. Traditional Japanese style but with western beds. During our stay the Ryokan was pretty empty so we enjoyed both Women's and Men's Onsen without anyone there and it was a very relaxing experience. The outside Onsen was lovely and the washing area was very clean. We have nothing negative to say about the facilities. We used the private Onsen as well (for an additional fee) and it was larger than expected, very clean, but it's an indoor Onsen so the heat was almost too much to handle, especially in September but it was still a good experience overall. The receptionist spoke little English but was well prepared, everything was printed out in English and easy to understand. The Ryokan offers free entry to a water park (just a 5 minute walk from the Ryokan) but we had other plans and didn't take advantage of this offer. Hopefully next time. We did however go there for our dinner since the Ryokan cafeteria is closed and instead they offer a prepaid meal with dessert in a nearby restaurant. Yakitori (table grill) - everything was very tasty and fresh, we left full and satisfied. The staff at the restaurant spoke perfect English and explained everything well. We also loved the location. We came to the Ryokan from Owakudani using a bus (not covered by Hakone Free Pass) and in the morning walked to the Open Air Museum (15-20 min walk from the Ryokan). There's also a beautiful little flower garden right next to the Onsen. We would definitely come back here again.

We enjoyed this as an authentic Japanese experience. The room was sizable, loved the extra mattresses/futons they provided which made it very family friendly. Also enjoyed the table. Loved the location, we walked to Yunassen spa and were also able to walk to the bus stop (though the road was quite narrow in areas with our suitcases). Onsen was nice. No showers in the room, you basically use the onsen showers which was fine for us. The biggest beautiful surprise was a well-kept forest with a gorgeous path through it, directly across from the hotel entrance! Went early in the AM and it was so peaceful.

Room was spacious and very comfortable. I love the feel of the room very much. Onsen was so amazing! I was so lucky to stay on weekdays, when the place was so quiet, and I had the big public Onsen for myself. I love they let us use their robes freely. Staff was very nice and friendly too. It's also a bonus that there was beautiful park right in front of the hotel called Horaien. I was able to enjoy the beautiful, serene walk first in the morning!

Very quiet and scenic hotel in Hakone. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room included use of the local onsen where you can wear a swimming costume and a Japanese bbq at a local restaurant which we really enjoyed. Beds were comfortable and the room was lovely. There is a traditional onsen but we didn’t use these facilities. The surrounding area is just stunning.

The ryokan was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff was super friendly (make sure you have Google translate). The dinner that was included was wonderful (note the restaurant was in a mall complex a short walk away). It was a bonus to have a private onsen. The open air museum was a 20 minute walk away.
